Ferris Students – A Day in the Life of a Student at Ferris State University

Karl Winkler:

Karl graduated from the University of Akron between 1979 and 1983, focusing on Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry. He began his career as a Product Engineer at Teledyne Monarch Rubber, where he designed rubber bushings for automotive and military applications, including hydromounts, vibration absorbers, and dampers. From 1990 to 2021, Karl served as President of Experimental Services, Inc., a mechanical testing lab specializing in rubber-metal products. He managed prototype and DVPR production testing and conducted servohydraulic and electromagnetic tests for static, dynamic rates, and fatigue studies. Since 2022, he has been a Technical Consultant for Akron Rubber Development Labs, providing technical expertise and support. Karl has also authored papers for SAE and presented at various organizations, including the Akron Rubber Group, Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Honda.
